Write for us

We welcome pitches about matchmaking as a social practice: how introductions work, how meeting customs change, and what settings and expectations tell us about connection. A strong proposal is focused, considerate of different experiences and useful to a curious general reader.

What makes a good pitch

Send a short description of the central idea, why it belongs in United Match Journal and the specific angle you would take. Tell us what the reader will understand by the end. A tightly framed piece about one custom or question is more helpful than a broad promise to cover matchmaking in general.

Care with people and claims

We value clear explanations, careful language and original perspectives. Pitches should avoid treating compatibility as a score, making universal claims about relationships or relying on identifiable personal stories without appropriate permission. Do not send confidential material or assume that a personal account will be used.

How to send a proposal

Send proposals through the Contact page using the editorial question option, and include a working title and a brief outline. A pitch is a proposal rather than a promise of publication. Please do not send a complete article unless we have asked for it.

Our point of view

A match is a beginning, not a conclusion.

We look at the customs and choices around introductions with curiosity, while leaving room for people to decide what connection means to them.
